MY WATERFALL OF AWAKENING
About Me
I am the product of the first generation of career women that were gifted the ability to juggle “real” careers and family - the outcome of the original feminist movement of the 1960’s. We worked 2 full time jobs for decades, one outside the home, and the other managing the home. I was by all accounts wildly successful in my business career, but not without a cost. As part of that generation, I neglected my own needs, and landed squarely at 60 disconnected, dissatisfied and unfulfilled. At 60, I emerged from my mother’s death exhausted from caregiving and ready to collapse. But I had been gifted time as a result. And I committed to myself that I would use that time deliberately to reshape my life. To convert my existence from being a slave to the “shoulds” of the 60 year old women of the world to rediscovering and embracing the person I had left behind decades ago. Over the subsequent 3 years, I began a deliberate search for spiritual awakening.
Resources opened up in front of me, and over the course of those 3 years, I was in a position to document that journey to share with others. My awakening resulted in writing not only my story, but a guided journal/workbook that others could use to manifest their own awakening. As a result of sharing my own experience, I have universally received the comment “I need this book” or “I am this book”. And, it has shown others the path to awakening and happiness. As the oldest of 2 children born to a withholding, distant mother and alcoholic father, my drive for love through perfection led me to strive to become a concert pianist. Instead I landed in the corporate world, over-working for over 40 years in the Midwest insurance industry. Instead of pursuing my passion for music, I was a high level executive over multiple disciplines. Along the way I raised a son and married and divorced twice.
Disillusioned and ravaged by decades of stress and hostile work environments, at age 47, I left corporate life and started an insurance agency from scratch. Subsequently, I have been recognized regionally as a top woman owned business, as well as acknowledged as a skilled influencer and connector. I am known for using those skills in my charitable contributions to the community, and I continue to serve the community in which I live.
My true calling is to share my story with women who could recite a similar journey in the hopes that by revealing the truth below the surface of a seemingly successful and satisfying life there is a very different picture.
My hope is to deliver the message that you are never alone and it is never too late to live a life faithful to your true self.
